Barbara Ligeti and Wishing Well Productions by special arrangement with The Cherry Lane Theatre present the world premiere production of Frank Strausser's comedy Psycho Therapy, opening at The Cherry Lane Theatre on 29 Jan 2012, following previews from 19 Jan, and playing through to 25 Feb 2012.
Directed by Alex Lippard, the cast will feature Angelica Page, Jan Leslie Harding, Laurence Lau and Jeffrey Carlson.
Psycho Therapy: Lily's fiancée Phillip blows off couples therapy and Dorian, her hot young ex-boyfriend, jumps in to fill the void. When the trio ends up on the couch together, only therapist Nancy Winston can untangle the kinks.
The creative team features sets by Michael V. Moore, lighting by Jeff Croiter, costumes by Amanda Bujak and sound by Amy Altadonna.
Bios:
Angelica Page (aka: Angelica Torn) as appeared on Broadway in 'Side Man.' Off-Broadway credits include 'Edge,' 'The Vagina Monologues,' 'Side Man' and 'The Red Devil Battery Sign.' Over 20 features including the Oscar nominated films "Nobody's Fool," "The Contender" and "The Sixth Sense." She is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio and serves on its board of directors.
Jan Leslie Harding's Off-Broadway credits include 'Sincereity Forever,' 'Henry VI Part I: The Edged Sword,' 'Henry VI Part I: The Edged Sword' and 'A Murder of Crows.'
Laurence Lau's as appeared Off-Broadway as 'Inspector James Ascher' in 'Perfect Crime.' He has appeared on TV in the daytime dramas "All My Children" (Greg Nelson) and "Another World" (Dr. Jamie Frame).
Jeffrey Carlson was last seen on Broadway in 'Taboo,' his other Broadway credits include 'Tartuffe' and Edward Albee's 'The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?' He played 'Hamlet,' directed by Michael Kahn, at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC and most recently appeared in Sara Ruhl's 'Stage Kiss' at the Goodman in Chicago.
Frank Strausser's Psycho Therapy has had New York workshops and "developmental" productions Off-Broadway and in London's West End. It is also being developed as a feature film. His first produced play, 'The Powder Room,' starred Academy Award Best Actress nominee Sally Kirkland in a Los Angeles production. His second play, 'The Split,' premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is slated to have its US premiere in 2012. His third play, 'Valentine Triage' will have an Off-Broadway run in early 2013. He has adapted his novel 'Plastic' as a motion picture.
Alex Lippard credits include Off-Broadway: 'The Last Word...' and 'Sake with the Haiku Geisha.'
