PJ Benjamin and Chad Jennings to join Wicked on B'way

Wicked alum PJ Benjamin will return to the role of The Wizard, whilst Chad Jennings will reprise his role as Doctor Dillamond from the National Tour of the musical and make his Broadway debut in Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. Both actors will begin performances on February 7, 2017, assuming their respective roles from Peter Scolari and Michael Genet, who will play their final performances on February 5.

The principal cast of Wicked currently includes Jennifer DiNoia (Elphaba), Kara Lindsay (Glinda), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Madame Morrible), Michael Campayno (Fiyero), Dawn E. Cantwell (Nessarose), Zachary Noah Piser (Boq), Peter Scolari (The Wizard), and Michael Genet (Doctor Dillamond).

The Broadway musical Wicked officially opened at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003, following previews from October 8, and is currently booking through to September 17, 2017.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman, based on the popular novel by Gregory Maguire.

Synopsis: "Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch."

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by Wayne Cilento, and features scene design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Meola.

Wicked is produced on Broadway by Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone.
