Outer Critics Circle nominations: Sutton and Hunter Foster to announce
Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, reports that Broadway stars, and brother and sister Sutton and Hunter Foster will publicly announce the nominees for the 2009-10 season on 26 Apr at the historic Algonquin Hotel.
Outer Critics Circle will post award nominations in 23 categories and are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.
Sutton Foster was nominated for a Tony Award a total of five times and won the award for her performance in the title role in 'Thoroughly Modern Millie.' Twice she has won the Outer Critics Award for Outstanding Actress in a musical: 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' and 'Shrek.' Aside from starring roles in 'Young Frankenstein' and 'The Drowsy Chaperone,' she is currently appearing in the City Center's Encore Series 'Anyone Can Whistle.'
Hunter Foster has earned a Tony and an Outer Critics Circle nomination for his performance in 'Urinetown,' and another Tony nomination for 'Little Shop of Horrors.' A gifted writer and librettist, he is currently featured in the musical 'Million Dollar Quartet.'
The winners of the following categories will be announced on 17 May 2009 and the annual awards ceremony will be held on 27 May 2009 at Sardi's Restaurant.
