Outer Critics Circle: 2014 Award winners



The winners of the Outer Critics Circle Awards, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, were announced on 12 May 2014. The award ceremony will take place on 22 May 2014 at Sardi's Restaurant.

The Award for Outstanding New Broadway Musical was won by A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder which also won in three other categories, and the Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical (Broadway or Off-broadway) went to Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The awards offered a relatively even spread of winners this year, celebrating a wide range of productions over the 2013/14 season.

Robert Schenkkan's All The Way won the coveted Outstanding New Broadway Play Award, with Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie receiving the award for Outstanding Revival of a Play (Broadway or Off-Broadway).

As previously announced, Billy Porter, Victoria Clark, Terrence Mann, Andrea Martin and Shuler Hensley will serve as gala award presenters at the upcoming 64th Annual Outer Critics Circle Awards ceremony on 22 May 2014 at Sardi's.

Celebrating its 64th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theatre, the Outer Critics Circle, is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, web sites, radio and television stations, and theatre publications in America and abroad.

A Special Achievements Award went to:

  • Bill Berloni of Bill Berloni Theatrical Animals in recognition of this season's outstanding performances by his dogs in Annie, The Open House, The Threepenny Opera, Bullets Over Broadway and Lady Day.
