'Orson's Shadow' adds 'Afterwords' talkback series.

A talkback series entitled 'AFTERWORDS' begins at the Off-Broadway Orson's Shadow on Wed the 13 Apr 2005 and continues each Wednesday night thereafter, with Q&A sessions immediately following the 8pm performances.

Orson's Shadow, by Austin Pendleton, is currently booking at the Barrow Street Theatre to the 4 Sep. The show opened on the 13 Mar, following previews from the 1 Mar 2005.

The time is 1960, legendary critic Kenneth Tynan has made a startling proposal: Welles should direct Olivier and the young Joan Plowright in 'Rhinoceros,' Ionesco's absurdist masterpiece. But it is the rehearsal process that brims with absurdity.

    • Film industry veteran Peter Bogdanovich is widely known as a writer, actor and director. He befriended Orson Welles while writing the book Legends of Hollywood.

  • 27 Apr: Stage & screen veterans Eli Wallach & Anne Jackson.
    • Actors Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson have appeared on stage and screen. Both starred in the original Broadway production of Ionesco�s Rhinoceros...the play central to Orson�s Shadow.

  • 4 May: Author Chris Welles Feder, daughter of Orson Welles.
    • Chris Welles Feder is a widely published author of schoolbooks & educational materials for children, including the popular 'Brain Quest games'. She has also published a book of poems titled 'The Movie Director' inspired by her father, Orson Welles. In the book, she creates a fictional portrait of her father, much like Pendleton did in Orson�s Shadow.

Playwright Austin Pendleton's previous plays include 'Booth' and 'Uncle Bob'. 'Booth' was presented at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Long Wharf, York Theatre and the Writers' Theatre in Chicago. As an actor, Pendleton appeared on Broadway in 'The Diary of Anne Frank'. Off-Broadway, he appeared in 'The Last Sweet Days of Isaac' (Obie award), 'Hamlet', 'Richard III', 'Uncle Vanya' and others.

Orson's Shadow is directed by David Cromer (D.C. : 'The Grapes of Wrath' � Ford's Theatre; Chicago: 'Orson's Shadow' � Steppenwolf/2000, The Cider House Rules � Famous Door, The Dazzle & Golden Boy � Steppenwolf, Angels in America � The Journeymen, The Price & Austin Pendleton's Booth � Writers' Theatre).

This production features Susan Bennett, John Judd, Tracy Letts, Lee Roy Rogers, Jeff Still and Ian Westerfer.

Orson's Shadow has set design by by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Theresa Squire, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, and sound design by Jonah Lawrence.

Presented by Planetearth Partners, Inc. and Scott Morfee, this production marks the New York premiere of Orson's Shadow, which debuted at the Steppenwolf Theatre (Chicago). Together, Planetearth Partners and Scott Morfee presented the recent Off-Broadway production of 'BUG' by Tracy Letts, as well as 'Eat The Taste' by Greg Kotis and 'Underneath The Lintel' by Glen Berger. Scott Morfee's other credits include the acclaimed Off-Broadway production of Tracy Letts's 'Killer Joe'.
