‘Nollywood Dreams’ at MCC Theater cast announced

The entire 2020 cast will return for upcoming performances in the fall.

The full cast for Jocelyn Bioh's Nollywood Dreams at MCC Theater will return for upcoming performances, after the show was postponed in March 2020. Nollywood Dreams begins previews at MCC Theater's Newman Mills Theater on October 21, with an opening night on November 11 and performances to November 28.

Nollywood Dreams will be the first in-person show at MCC Theater since the pandemic. Speaking about her play, Jocelyn Bioh said: "Nothing thrills me more than to be reuniting with the Nollywood Dreams cast and finally getting the chance to share this play with the world. Being the first show back at MCC is an honor and we promise to fill the theater with laughter and pure joy."

The Nollywood Dreams cast is completed by Abena, Charlie Hudson, III, Nana Mensah, Sandra Okuboyejo, Ade Otukoya and Emana Rachelle.

Set in 1990s Nigeria, Nollywood Dreams explores the impacts of living in the Nollywood film industry. When Ayamma lands an audition for an upcoming film, she meets leading lady Fayola and all is going well. That's until Nollywood heartthrob Wale walks onto set, and dreaming big takes a turn.

Saheem Ali will direct Nollywood Dreams, which also features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by David Weiner and Jiyoun Chang and sound design by Palmer Hefferan.

Upcoming shows at MCC Theater include Space Dogs, Here She Is, Boys and soft in 2022. Performance schedules for later shows are to be confirmed.

Nollywood Dreams is at MCC Theater from October 21 - November 28.
