MCC Theater has announced the complete cast to star in the world premiere of Nollywood Dreams. The production will be staged at the Newman Mills Theater within the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, with previews from March 19, 2020, ahead of an official opening on April 13 and performances through April 26, 2020.

The complete cast includes Charlie Hudson III (as Gbenga), Nana Mensah (as Dede), Sandra Okuboyejo (as Ayamma), Ade Otukoya (as Wale Owusu), Emana Rachelle (as Fayola), and Zenzi Williams (as Adenikeh).

Synopsis: "It's the 1990s and in Lagos, Nigeria, the Nollywood film industry is exploding and taking the world by storm. Ayamma dreams of stardom while working at her parents' travel agency alongside her lovable and celebrity-obsessed sister Dede. When Ayamma lands an audition for a new film by Gbenga Ezie, Nigeria's hottest director, she comes head-to-head with Gbenga's former leading lady, Fayola. Tensions flare just as sparks start flying between Ayamma, the aspiring ingénue, and Wale, Nollywood's biggest heartthrob, in this hilarious new play about dreaming big."

Nollywood Dreams sees the return of playwright Jocelyn Bioh to MCC Theater, after her critically acclaimed play, School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play was performed in 2017, and revived the following year.

The creative team includes direction by Saheem Ali, scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by David Weiner and sound design by Palmer Hefferan.
