NEWSical: Kandi Burruss to star for two weeks

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter and reality television star Kandi Burruss will make a guest appearance to lead the cast of Rick Crom's comedy revue NEWSical The Musical for two weeks from 13 - 26 Jan 2014.

Kandi Burruss says,

I am thrilled to join the cast of NEWSical The Musical. Having just come off of my own musical production, NEWSical The Musical furthers my journey in entertainment to, simultaneously, do more of what I love: act and sing. Being a part of an illustrious list of stars that have previously joined the show is an honor.
Kandi Burruss is the latest star to grace the NEWSical The Musical stage. Previously, celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton joined the show for a limited run, as did Broadway's original Annie, Andrea McArdle, Saturday Night Live's Cheri Oteri, Carson Kressley, Jackée Harry, and most recently, La Toya Jackson.

Burruss is best known for her appearances on Bravo's TV reality show "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." Her professional singing career began as a member of the multi-platinum-selling R&B group Xscape. After the group disbanded, she began writing and producing music, penning hits for music's best, including Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Pink.

NEWSical The Musical, by Rick Crom, opened at Theatre Row's Kirk Theater on 9 Jan 2011, following previews from 13 Dec 2010, and is currently booking through to 01 Jun 2014.

NEWSical The Musical cast features Christine Pedi, Michael West, Susan Mosher, David Foley Jr., Kristen Mengelkoch and Dylan H. Thompson.

No one in the news is safe! NEWSical The Musical lampoons all the top events, headlines, newsmakers, celebrities and politicians of the day. With songs and material being updated on a regular basis, composer-lyricist Rick Crom's topical musical comedy is an ever-evolving mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof.

The creative team features Ed Goldschneider (music director), Jason Courson (set designer), David Kally (costume designer) and Scott Delacruz (stage manager).

The show is produced by Tom D'Angora (Broadway Diva Christmas, Naked Boys Singing!, Divas I've Done) and Elyse Pasquale (Betty Rules).
