New Group: announces new season

Next up in the season is a revival of Wallace Shawn's Marie and Bruce, with Marisa Tomei and Frank Whaley appearing in the title roles, respectively. Additional casting to be announced.

This production marks Marisa Tomei's debut with The New Group, while Frank Whaley returns to company on the heels of last season's 'A Lie of the Mind,' in which he appeared as 'Mike.'

Director Scott Elliott and writer Wallace Shawn, who collaborated previously on The New Group's 'Aunt Dan and Lemon' and 'The Fever' and 'The Threepenny Opera' on Broadway, team up once again with this production.

Marie and Bruce, Shawn's examination of marital strife, premiered in 1979 at The Royal Court Theatre in London and made its American debut at The New York Shakespeare Festival in 1980.

Marie and Bruce begins previews on 3 Mar 2011 and closes on 23 Apr 2011, an opening date is still to be announced.

The New Group concludes its upcoming season with the New York premiere of One-Arm, presented in collaboration with the Tectonic Theater Project.

Based on an unproduced Tennessee Williams' screenplay and classic short story, One-Arm is adapted and directed by Tectonic founder Moisés Kaufman ('33 Variations,' 'I Am My Own Wife' and 'The Laramie Project)'.

Casting to be announced.

Marie and Bruce begins previews on 5 May 2011 and closes on 25 Jun 2011, an opening date is still to be announced.
