New cast announced for 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' at the Lyric Theatre

The new Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set to begin performances on March 20, 2019.

The producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have announced the new Broadway cast, who will give their first performance at the Lyric Theatre on March 20, 2019. The current cast will play their last performance on March 17, 2019.

James Snyder will play Harry Potter, assuming the role from Tony Award nominee Jamie Parker. Matt Mueller will play Ron Weasley, taking over from Paul Thorney, whilst Jenny Jules will play Hermione Granger, assuming the role from Tony Award nominee Noma Dumezweni.

Diane Davis will play Ginny Potter and Nicholas Podany will play Albus Potter, with Nadia Brown as Rose Granger-Weasley, Jonno Roberts as Draco Malfoy and Bubba Weiler as Scorpius Malfoy.

They are joined by Aaron Bartz, Will Carlyon, Kimberly Dodson, Patrick Du Laney, Sara Farb, Jonathan Gordon, Steve Haggard, Eva Kaminsky, Jack Koenig, Rachel Leslie, Sarita Amani Nash, Fiona Reid, Katherine Reis, Kevin Matthew Reyes, Antoinette Robinson, Stephen Spinella, Tom Patrick Stephens, Erica Sweany and Karen Janes Woditsch.

Brian Thomas Abraham, Olivia Bond, Stephen Bradbury, James Brown III, Lauren Nicole Cipoletti, Zoë Feigelson, Jack Hatcher, Edward James Hyland, Joey LaBrasca, Landon Maas, James Romney and Alex Weisman will remain in the cast.

Opening on Broadway on April 22, 2018, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original new story by J.K Rowling and Jack Throne, directed by John Tiffany. Winner of six Tony Awards including "Best Play," Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has won over 25 awards in the United States, solidifying the play as the most awarded new play in theatre history.

Synopsis: "It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child features scenic design by Christine Jones, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design by Gareth Fry, movement by Steven Hoggett, illusions & magic by Jamie Harrison and music supervision & arrangements by Martin Lowe.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child tickets are available now for performances through to 29 September, 2019.
