New Amsterdames at HERE Arts Center

Flying Fig Theater, in association with Middle Tennessee State University presents New Amsterdames, by Ellen K. Anderson, opening the HERE Arts Center on 3 Dec 2007, following previews from 1 Dec and running through to 16 Dec 2007.

New Amsterdames: A NY1 reporter covers the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage while in 1659 the women of New Amsterdam, including doughnut inventor Anna Joralemon and first generation African-American farmer Dorothy Angola, race against an army of beavers to find the lost deed to Manhattan.

Directed by Heather Ondersma, New Amsterdames features Amy Bizjak, Andrea Caban, Arlene Chico-Lugo, Jeannie Dalton, Lucille Duncan, Michaela Goldhaber and Tina Lee.

The creative team comprises Scott Boyd (sets and lighting) and Alisha Engle and Mark Spain (costumes).

This production is being presented through HERE�s Supported Artist Program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as technical and administrative support.
