The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced an updated cast for the forthcoming world premiere production of The World of Extreme Happiness, written by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig and directed by Eric Ting.

The cast for The World of Extreme Happiness now includes Jennifer Lim (Sunny), Francis Jue (Old Lao/Gao Chen/Mr. Destiny), Telly Leung (Pete/Ran Feng/DJ Happy), Jo Mei (Ming-Ming/Shu Min/Xiao Li), James Saito (Li Han/James Lin), and Sue Jin Song (Artemis/Wang Hua).

The dark comedy begins previews on 3 February 2015, with an official opening set for 24 February, and will run though to 29 March 2015.

Synopsis: 'Unwanted from the moment she's born, Sunny is determined to escape her life in rural China and forge a new identity in the city. As naïve as she is ambitious, Sunny views her new job in a grueling factory as a stepping stone to untold opportunities. When fate casts her as a company spokeswoman at a sham PR event, Sunny's bright outlook starts to unravel in a series of harrowing and darkly comic events, as she begins to question a system enriching itself by destroying its own people.'

The creative team has also now been announced and will feature scenic design by Mimi Lien, costumes by Jenny Mannis, lighting by Tyler Micoleau, and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel.

The World of Extreme Happiness is a co-production with The Goodman Theatre.

The Manhattan Theatre Club is also currently represented with the Broadway production of Constellations by Nick Payne, directed by Michael Longhurst and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
