Milk Like Sugar extends by 1 week to 27 Nov 2011

The New York premiere of Kirsten Greenidge's Milk Like Sugar extends its run by one week and will now play through to 27 Nov 2011.

Milk Like Sugar opened at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 1 Nov 2011, following previews from 13 Oct, and was originally scheduled to close on 20 Nov 2011.

The play opened to mixed, but mostly good reviews: Unintentionally light-weight (newyorktheatreguide); Smart & unsettling & remarkably acted (NYDN); Riveting (Back Stage) An absorbing 100 minutes (Variety).

Milk Like Sugar: With potential for more but nowhere to put it, sixteen-year-old Annie's (Angela Lewis) got a choice: honor the pregnancy pact she made with her friends, or find the path to a brighter future.

Directed by Rebecca Taichman, Milk Like Sugar features Cherise Boothe (Talisha), Tonya Pinkins (Myrna), Angela Lewis (Annie), LeRoy McClain (Antwoine), J. Mallory-McCree (Malik), Adrienne C. Moore (Keera) and Nikiya Mathis (Margie). - all of whom are reprising their roles from La Jolla Playhouse's recent world-premiere production.

The design team includes Mimi Lien (set), Toni-Leslie James (costume), Justin Townsend (lighting) and Andre Pleuss (sound).

Milk Like Sugar is produced Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons in a co-production with the Women's Project.
