It has been reported that Tony nominee Michael Arden is set to direct a Broadway revival of Once on This Island. The musical features music by Stephen Flaherty and a book & lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, based on the novel "My Love, My Love" by Rosa Guy.

This new production will feature new orchestrations by original orchestrator Michael Starobin.

Synopsis: "Ti Moune, a peasant girl in the Antilles, saves the life of a young man, Daniel, after a car crash and falls in love with him. However, he returns to his wealthy family on the other side of the island, and with love as her guide, Ti Moune must find her way to him through prejudice and hate with the aid of four Gods: Asaka - Mother of the Earth Asaka, Agwé - God of Water, Erzulie - Goddess of Love, and Papa Ge - Demon of Death."

The Broadway revival will be produced by Ken Davenport, who also teamed up with Arden on last season's Deaf West revival of Spring Awakening.

The original Broadway production of Once on This Island opened at the Booth theatre in October 1990 and went on to pick up a total of eight Tony Award nominations in 1991, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.

Dates, venue and casting information will be announced at a later date.
