Since 2000, MCC Theater have hosted an annual Miscast gala, inviting performers to sing songs that typically fall outside of their casting bracket. Miscast will return again in 2021 online for the second consecutive year, available to watch on May 16.

"Sharing Miscast with the world last year was an incredibly rewarding experience for all involved, and we're looking forward to being able to do that again through this virtual broadcast" said Bernie Telsey, co-artistic director of MCC.

One of the leading events in the theatre calendar, stars of stage and screen appear in this musical gala, singing songs from roles they'd never be seen on stage. Casting for the Miscast 2021 gala includes Annaleigh Ashford, Robin de Jesús, Renée Elise Goldsberry, LaChanze, Kelli O'Hara and Billy Porter. The additional lineup includes Idina Menzel, Melissa Barrera, Leslie Grace, Cheyenne Jackson, Jai'Len Josey, Kelly Marie Tran and Patrick Wilson.

For the 2020 production, performances included Adrienne Warren singing "Before the Parade Passes By" from Hello, Dolly!, Rob McClure singing "Worst Pies in London" from Sweeney Todd and Leslie Odom Jr. and Nicolette Robinson singing "The Human Heart" from Once On This Island.

Miscast 2021 is available on May 16. Free Miscast 2021 tickets are on sale now.
