‘Macbeth’ adaptation to include virtual and auditory soundscapes
Shakespeare's tragedy is to be reimagined, with productions taking place this Halloween.
A new adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth will reimagine 'the Scottish play' as an immersive auditory experience. Titled Macbeth: A Surround Sound Experiment, the audio event will be available to listen to over the Halloween weekend from October 30 - November 1, with money raised benefiting The Actors Fund.
Macbeth: A Surround Sound Experiment will be recorded in isolation over 24 hours, featuring a soundtscape by Will Padilla and direction by Joseph Discher. Audience members will be guided to listen in the dark with a burning candle.
The cast is completed by Tamara Tunie, Laila Robins, Derek Wilson, Joel de la Fuente, Robert Cuccioli, Geoffrey Owens, Jacob Cogman, Sean Hudock, Rocío Mendez, Tim Nicolai, Mandy Olsen, Shane Taylor, Patrick Toon, and Jeorge Bennett Watson.
As well as listening to the audio performances, special instructions will be sent to audience members to enhance their viewing — cocktail recipes and additional pieces of equipment will also be given out.
