Lucky Guy: complete cast announced

The complete cast has been announced for the world premiere of three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron's play Lucky Guy, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on 1 Apr 2013, following previews from 1 Mar 2013, where it will play a limited engagement through to 16 Jun 2013.

Paula Jon De Rose, Joe Forbrich, Tom Hammond and Marc Damon Johnson will join the previously announced two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks in his Broadway debut starring as 'Mike McAlary,' Christopher McDonald as 'Eddie Hayes,' Peter Gerety as 'John Cotter' and Peter Scolari as 'Michael Daly,' with Michael Gaston 'Jim Dwyer,' Dustyn Gulledge as 'Dino Tortoricci,' Deirdre Lovejoy as 'Louise Imerman' and 'Debbie Krenek,' Danny Mastrogiorgio as 'Bob Drury,' Richard Masur as 'Jerry Nachman' and 'Stanley Joyce,' and Stephen Tyrone Williams as 'Abner Louima.'

The creative team will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, sound design by Scott Lehrer and, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer.

Lucky Guy was originally written by Ephron as a screen play in which Tom Hanks was set to star.

Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy marks a return to her journalistic roots in a new play about the scandal- and graffiti-ridden New York of the 1980s, as told through the story of the charismatic and controversial tabloid columnist Mike McAlary.

From his sensational reporting of New York's major police corruption to the libel suit that nearly ended his career, the play dramatizes the story of McAlary's meteoric rise, fall and rise again, ending with his coverage of the Abner Louima case for which he won the Pulitzer Prize, shortly before his untimely death on Christmas Day, 1998.

Ephron knew McAlary from the days that they both worked at the New York Post.
