Lovers, new musical at the Beckett Theater
Lovers, a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Christopher Massimine will play a limited engagement of 5 performances at theatre row's Beckett Theatre from 15 Jul - 1 Aug 2010.
Lovers: Chip and Jolie thought they found an unlikely love. In a relationship spanned over 8 years from carefree impulses to increasing uncertainties, their story is set against human rhythms, harmonies and ultimately, the discords of Manhattan dreams versus Brooklyn realities...where dreams go deferred and sacrifices are made...or not...with tragic results.
Directed by Christopher M. Czyz, Lovers stars Will Taylor as 'Chip' and Courtney Hammond as 'Jolie.'
The creative team features set design by Matt Klan, costumes by Ashley Horton and lighting by Kayla Gobel .
The musical is being produced by Christopher Massimine, Elvin Roytman and Ruben Brache in association with Jason Goldstein and Matthew Kagen.
Will Taylor (Chip) has appeared on Broadway in 'A Chorus Line' (Bobby), 'La Cage Aux Folles' (Phaedra), 'The Producers' and '42nd Street.' Other New York credits include 'Jason & Ben' (NYMF), 'The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas' (Actor's Fund), and 'The Lisbon Traviata' (The Center).
Courtney Hammond (Jolie): Theatre credits include 'Sally Bowles' (Cabaret, CAP 21), 'Ariel Moore' in 'Footloose,' at the Orlando Convention Center and the title role in the Theatreworks national tour of 'If You Give a Pig a Pancake.' She has been a co-host of Shamu TV on the Discovery Chanel/Animal Planet and the co-host and Green Team Captain on the live Nickelodeon game show 'Splat!'.
Christopher M. Czyz (Director) Recent directorial work on 'Distracted' (Roundabout Theatre Company), 'Something You Di'd (Primary Stages), 'Sabra '(Manhattan Theatre Source), 'Spite,' 'Prayer,' (NY Fringe Festival). Christopher Massimine (Book/Lyrics/Music) is an emerging playwright and composer and Producer. Lovers is his first major push in the direction of theatrical artist.
