Love Sucks at the Julia Miles Theatre
Courthouse Repertory presents Love Sucks - book & lyrics by Stephen O'Rourke, music by Brandon Patton - at the Julia Miles Theatre from 26 Sep - 6 Oct 2007, Part of the New York Musical Theater Festival.
Love Sucks is a new, punk rock musical, uses the premise of Shakespeare's Love's Labours Lost as a springboard for this modern day story. The musical is set in the burgeoning underground scene of the 1970's East Village. Two competing rock bands, The Molotovs and The Guttersnipes, swear off love because they've lost too many musicians to jealous lovers. In order to stay focused on the music, each band member can have sex with someone only three times. But when the guys and girls meet up, their rule comes back to bite them in the ass.
Directed by Andrew Goldberg, Love Sucks features Kim Gatewood, Rebecca Hart, Caryn Havlik, Robert Andrew Marnell, Athena Reich, Andrew M.ross, Heather Robb, Nicholas Webber and Jason Wooten.
The design team comprises Shoko Kambara (sets), Aaron Spivey (lighting) and Amelia Dombrowski (Costume).
