Looking for the Pony: Eloisa is finally ready to leave a lifeless career in finance to pursue a childhood dream when her sister Lauren is diagnosed with breast cancer. Lauren's perfect life and Eloisa's second chance collide as the sisters join forces to cure all that ails them.
The play was originally developed and produced by Vital Theatre Company as part of its VITAL SIGNS New Works Festival in 2002.
Directed by Stephan Golux, Looking for the Pony features J. Smith-cameron, Deirdre O�Connell, Lori Funk and Debargo Sanyal.
The creative team features Adam Koch (sets), Matthew Hemesath (costumes), Aaron Copp (lighting) and Jessica Paz (sound).
Andrea Lepcio's plays include 'One Nation Under,' 'Eclipse,' 'Hook & Eye' and the musical The Bronx Casket Co, which have been produced and developed at Chashama, HERE, Women's Project, Hangar Theatre, Trustus Theatre, among others. Her screenplay, �A September Spring,� won the Sloan Foundation Dramatic Writing Award. A two-time finalist for the Heideman Award, her work has been published by New York Theatre Experience, Estrogenius, lichen and Smith & Kraus.
J. Smith-cameron last appeared off-Broadway earlier this year in Second Stage Theatre's production of 'Good Boys and True.' She won an OBIE Award for her performance as 'Alexa Vere de Vere' in 'As Bees in Honey Drown' (1997). Her many other Off-Broadway credits include: 'Sarah, Sarah,' 'Fuddy Meers' and 'Memory of Water.' She was nominated for a Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her work in 'Our Country's Good .' She last appeared on Broadway in 'After the Night and the Music.' (2005).
Deirdre O'connell's many off-Broadway credits include 'Fugue' at Cherry Lane Theater, 'Manic Flight Reaction' and 'Spatter Pattern,' both at Playwright Horizons and 'Mud and Drowning' at the Signature Theatre. On Broadway she has appeared in 'The Front Page' (Mollie Malloy: 1986 revival).
Debargo Sanyal has previously appeared off-Broadway in the Signature Theatre Company's production of Charles Mee's 'Queens Boulevard (the musical).'
Director Stephan Golux recently helmed productions of 'Sylvia,' 'The Complete History Of America (abridged),' 'Copenhagen,' 'Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris,' 'True West' and 'Who'S Afraid Of Virginia Wolf' for Vermont Stage Company. He has directed world premieres of 'American Passenger' by Theron Albis, 'Underworld' by Josh Ben Friedman, 'Crawling From The Wreckage' by Paul Rogalus and 'Ninth Street Water' by Michael Griffo.
