Lincoln Center Theater to stream archived productions
The series begins with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
If you're missing theatre, streams keep on giving. Lincoln Center Theater will be streaming four shows as part of Private Reels: From the LCT Archives beginning with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike on March 18.
All productions have been edited to allow viewers to experience past productions for the first time. As well as the Private Reels, the Spotlight series lets audiences learn from LCT creatives.
Private Reels starts with the Tony Award-winning play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which had its New York premiere at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in 2012. A cast including Sigourney Weaver, David Hyde Pierce and Genevieve Anderson starred in the show, which transferred to the Golden Theatre in 2013. In a five star rating for New York Theatre Guide, Christopher Durang's play is a "sleight of hand bit of light entertainment."
Future streams include the 2016 boxing drama The Royale directed by Rachel Chavkin, Sarah DeLappe's 2017 play The Wolves and the Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of Marys Seacole, staged in 2019.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is available from March 18. More information can be found here.
