Lila Neugebauer to direct 2ST's Mary Page Marlowe
Second Stage Theater has revealed that Obie and Drama Desk Award-winning director Lila Neugebauer will helm the New York premiere of Tracy Letts' Mary Page Marlowe, which is expected to begin performances at the Tony Kiser Theater in June 2018.
Synopsis: "If you looked back on eleven moments from your life, would you recognize yourself, or would you see a stranger? Mary Page Marlowe is a seemingly ordinary accountant from Ohio who has experienced pain and joy, success and failure. In this sweeping but intimate play, Tracy Letts gives us a haunting portrait of a complex woman, demonstrating how a series of forgotten moments can add up to one memorable life."
Ms. Neugebauer was last represented off-Broadway with the Signature Theatre production of 'The Antipodes.' Other off-Broadway credits include Signature's 'Everybody,' 'The Wayside Motor Inn,' and 'Signature Plays: Edward Albee's The Sandbox, Maria Irene Fornes' Drowning, and Adrienne Kennedy's Funnyhouse of a Negro,' as well as Lincoln Center Theater's 'Kill Floor' and 'The Wolves' at the Duke on 42nd Street.
As previously announced, Second Stage Theater will also mount the 35th Anniversary production of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song, directed by Moisés Kaufman and starring Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl, which is set to begin performances at the Tony Kiser Theater in September 2017. The next production at the off-Broadway venue will be Bruce Norris' comedy A Parallelogram, directed by Michael Greif, playing from July 11 through to August 20, with an official opening set for August 2, 2017.
