LCT announces cast of Pipeline by Dominique Morisseau
Lincoln Center Theater has announced casting for Dominique Morisseau's new play Pipeline, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, which will begin previews at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater on June 15, 2017, before an official opening on July 10 and a limited engagement through to August 27, 2017.
The cast of Pipeline includes Karen Pittman (as Nya Joseph) and Namir Smallwood (as Omari), alongside Tasha Lawrence, Morocco Omari, Jaime Lincoln Smith and Heather Velazquez.
Synopsis: "Nya Joseph is a dedicated, inner-city public high school teacher who is committed to her students' achievement, while she sends her only son, Omari, to a private boarding school. When Omari is involved in a controversial incident which threatens him with expulsion from his school, Nya is forced to reconcile Omari's rage and her own parental decisions, as she rallies to save her son."
The creative team behind Pipeline features scenic design by Matt Saunders, costume design by Montana Blanco, lighting design by Yi Zhao, sound design by Justin Ellington and projections by Hannah Wasileski.
Playwright Dominique Morisseau has been represented off-Broadway previously by the Atlantic Theater Company production of 'Skeleton Crew' (2016) and the Public Theater production of 'Detroit '67' (2013). Other work includes 'Paradise Blue,' 'Sunset Baby,' 'Blood at the Root' and 'Follow Me to Nellie's.'
