'Latinologues' extends to the 31 Dec 2005


Rick Najera's award-winning comedy, Latinologues, has extended its Broadway engagement to the 31 Dec 2005, the show had originally been scheduled to close on the 4 Dec.

The comedy review opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre on the 13 Oct 2005, following previews from the 13 Sep 2005.

Latinologues opened to mainly good to luke warm notices. The NEw YOrk Times wrote "Mr. Najera and his compadres can skillfully sling one-liners, but the characters he has cooked up to transmit them are neither fresh nor fully realized.� and New York Daily News said of the show "Filled with ribald spirits, incredible energy and great talent."

Cheech Marin directs the Broadway production of Latinologues, a collection of comedic and poignant monologues, performed in English, revealing the Latino experience in America.

Latinologues was created and written by Rick Najera, one of America's leading comedy writers with MAD TV and In Living Color among his credits.

Rick Najera stars in Latinologues along with Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan and Shirley A. Rumierk, as they take on everything from beauty pageants to immigration.

Latinologues has been featured around the country in cities including Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, San Antonio, Houston, Las Vegas, Houston, Miami, and on Showtime's Latino Laugh Festival and HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival. More than 70 actors have performed in the show. The comedy recently won the Imagen Award for Best Live Theatrical Production.
