'La Cage Aux Folles' to close on the 26 Jun 2005
La Cage Aux Folles, the winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, is to close following Sunday's Matinee performance on the 26 Jun 2005 at the Marquis Theatre. When it closes the show will have played 30 previews and 229 regular performances.
I am so proud of this wonderful production. Unfortunately, despite winning the Tony Award on Sunday, our sales have not increased. We've decided to set the closing date for June 26th to give theatergoers a window of opportunity to see this beautiful show, said producer James L. Nederlander.
La Cage Aux Folles has book by Harvey Fierstein, with music & lyrics by Jerry Herman, based on the play 'La Cage Aux Folles' by Jean Poiret.
The musical tells the story of Albin and Georges, two middle-aged partners who run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez. Their outrageously resplendent peace turns to mayhem when their son announces that he is getting married--to the daughter of a local morals crusader!
