Kelli O'Hara, Brian d'Arcy James to star in 'Days of Wine and Roses' off Broadway

The new musical will premiere later this spring.

Atlantic Theater Company will present the world premiere of the new musical Days of Wine and Roses, starring Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James and Tony winner Kelli O'Hara. Performances run from May 5 to June 25 at the Linda Gross Theater off Broadway.

O'Hara is known for her award-winning leading role in The King and I, revived off Broadway in 2015. She has received an additional six nominations throughout her celebrated career, for shows including The Light in the Piazza, South Pacific, The Bridges of Madison County, and Kiss Me, Kate.

James just wrapped a run in the celebrated Broadway revival of Into the Woods as the Baker. He is also known for his Tony-nominated performances in Something Rotten!, Shrek, and Sweet Smell of Success, along with screen appearances in films like West Side Story and TV shows like Smash.

Days of Wine and Roses is based on the 1958 teleplay and 1962 film of the same name. O'Hara and James star as Kirsten and Joe, a couple who fall in love in 1950s New York and struggle to rebuild their family.

The musical adaptation features a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, who last collaborated on The Light in the Piazza. Michael Greif directs.

Days of Wine and Roses also features scenic design by Lizzie Clachan, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Kai Harada, orchestrations by Guettel, music contracting by Antoine Silverman, and music direction by Kim Grigsby.

Additional casting has yet to be announced.
