Joanna A Jones, Latoya Edwards & the original cast of School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play return for encore engagement

School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play returns to the Lucille Lortel Theatre from October 16, 2018.

MCC Theater has announced complete casting for the special return engagement for Jocelyn Bioh's hit comedy School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman, which returns to the Lucille Lortel Theatre from October 16 through to November 25, 2018, with an official opening set for October 22.

Hamilton star Joanna A. Jones and Miss You Like Hell star Latoya Edwards join original cast members MaameYaa Boafo (as Paulina Sarpong), Paige Gilbert (as Gifty), Zainab Jah (as Eloise Amponsah), Abena Mensah-Bonsu (as Nana), Mirirai Sithole (as Mercy), and Myra Lucretia Taylor (as Headmistress Francis).

Synopsis: "Paulina, the reigning Queen Bee at Ghana's most exclusive boarding school, has her sights set on the Miss Universe pageant. But the mid-year arrival of Ericka, a new student with undeniable talent and beauty, captures the attention of the pageant recruiter - and Paulina's hive-minded friends. This buoyant and biting comedy explores the universal similarities (and glaring differences) facing teenage girls across the globe."

The creative team behind School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play includes scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Palmer Hefferan, and dialect coaching by Deborah Hecht.

Prior to its off-Broadway return, the production will also play a limited Los Angeles engagement at the Kirk Douglas Theatre from September 2 to 30, 2018.

The original world premiere of School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play played a twice-extended run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre from November 2 through to December 31, 2017, and won the Lucille Lortel Award for "Outstanding Play", whilst the ensemble cast also received a special Drama Desk Award.

School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Tickets are available now for performances from October 16 through to November 25, 2018.
