Jennifer Simard-led Who's Holiday! is postponed
The previously announced world premiere of Who's Holiday! - an adult Christmas comedy in couplets - written by Matthew Lombardo and directed by Carl Andress, which was supposed to star Tony nominee Jennifer Simard as Cindy Lou Who, has had to postpone its off-Broadway engagement due to "a sudden rights issue."
Previews were scheduled to begin on 2 November 2016 at New World Stages, before an official opening on 16 November and a limited engagement through to 2 January 2017.
Jennifer Simard's next NY stage outing will be her role as Ernestina in next year's much-anticipated Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!, starring Bette Midler, at the Shubert Theatre.
Synopsis: "Who's Holiday! tells the story of a middle-aged Cindy Lou Who, now residing in a beaten down trailer in the snowy hills of Mount Crumpit. As she prepares to host a Christmas Eve party for her friends, she recalls from her own perspective that fated night when she first met the Grinch, and the strange turn of events her life has taken for the past 40 years."
The creative team features scenic design by David Gallo, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by Ken Billington, sound design by Bart Fasbender and wig design by Charles LaPointe.
Producers for Who's Holiday! include R. Erin Craig, Gene Fisch, Jason Shaw, Scott & Jenny Beck in association with Foresight Theatrical.
Jennifer Simard was last seen on the New York stage in her Tony-nominated performance as Sister Mary Downy in 'Disaster!' She has also appeared in the Broadway productions of 'Sister Act,' 'Shrek The Musical,' and 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.' Her off-Broadway credits include 'Unbroken Circle,' 'Dr. Sex,' 'The Thing About Men,' 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change,' and 'Forbidden Broadway.'
