'Into the Woods' hosts digital Broadway lottery
Performances begin tonight at the St. James Theatre.
This is your ticket into the woods! The latest Broadway revival of Into the Woods will have lottery tickets available throughout its entire limited run. Performances begin at the St. James Theatre tonight and run through August 21.
The lottery for $50 tickets will open for entries the day before each performance, and on the Friday before each Saturday and Sunday performance. Winners will be drawn at 11 a.m. that day, and further drawings may take place throughout the day based on availability. Winners will have a limited time from when they are notified to claim and purchase their tickets.
Into the Woods centers on a baker and his wife who venture into the woods to reverse a curse placed on their family, and they encounter many classic fairytale characters along the way — though happily ever after doesn't come smoothly for any of them. The principal cast includes Sara Bareilles as the Baker's Wife, Brian d'Arcy James as the Baker, Tony Award winner Patina Miller as the Witch, Phillipa Soo as Cinderella, Tony winner Gavin Creel as the Wolf/Cinderella's Prince, Joshua Henry as Rapunzel's Prince, Aymee Garcia as Jack's Mother, Ta'Nika Gibson as Lucinda, Annie Golden as Cinderella's Mother/Grandmother/Giant's Wife, Albert Guerzon as Cinderella's Father, Brooke Ishibashi as Florinda, Kennedy Kanagawa as Milky White, David Patrick Kelly as the Narrator/Mysterious Man, Julia Lester as Little Red Riding Hood, Nancy Opel as Cinderella's Stepmother, Cole Thompson as Jack, David Turner as the Steward, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel.
The production is based on a sold-out two-week run at New York City Center this past May, which included many of the same stars including Bareilles and Creel. Lear deBessonet directs.
