Iliad: Book One at the Lucille Lortel Theatre

Aquila Theatre company presents Homer's Iliad: Book One, opening at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on 16 Apr 2009, following previews from 31 Mar and running through to 25 Apr 2009.

Iliad: Book One is a 2700-year-old text originally created for performance that tells the story of the rage of Achilles, the cost of war, and his personal search for honor and meaning.

Iliad: Book One is one of Aquilas signature productions and the company has been exploring the text since its first experimental production at Lincoln Center in 1999. The company has returned to the project several times over the past nine years with performances at Classic Stage Company, NYU, Columbia University, and in Syros, Greece. The New York Times called it a performance of staggering power stunning, stirring, and memorable theatrical experience.

Directed by Peter Meineck, with original music by Anthony Cochrane and movement by Desiree Sanchez, Iliad: Book One will feature John Buxton, Nathan Flower, Jeffrey Golde, Jay Painter, Natasha Piletich and Vaishnavi Sharma.
