I Love You Because to close 21 May 2006


The off-Broadway musical I Love You Because, which recently celebrated its 100th performance, is to close on the 21 May 2006.

The musical comedy opened at the Village Theatre on the 14 Feb 2006, following previews from the 19 Jan. When the show closes it will have played 30 previews and 111 regular performances.

I Love You Because is about Austin Bennet, a young greeting card writer whose life is turned upside down when he finds his long-term girlfriend Catherine in bed with another man. Forced back out into the treacherous New York dating scene, Austin meets Marcy Fitzwilliams, a flighty photographer whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive him insane. They are constantly misguided by Austin�s brother Jeff and Marcy�s best friend Diana Bingley. Together, they explore the �rules� and nuances of dating in the big city as they learn how to love someone, not in spite of their differences, but because of them.

The musical has book & lyrics by Ryan Cunningham and music by Joshua Salzman

The musical is directed by Daniel Kutner and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, with set designs by Beowulf Boritt & Jo Winiarski, costumes by Millie Hiibel, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Tony Smolenski and Walter Trarbach.
