Howard McGillin & more to join Charles Busch in The Confession of Lily Dare
Primary Stages' production of The Confession of Lily Dare is set to begin performances at the Cherry Lane Theatre on January 11, 2020.
Primary Stages has now announced the cast to join Charles Busch in the previously reported production of The Confession of Lily Dare, as part of the company's 35th Anniversary season. The new comedy is scheduled to play the Cherry Lane Theatre from January 11 through March 5, 2020, with an official opening set for January 29.
The cast includes Charles Busch in the titular role, alongside Nancy Anderson (as Emmy Lou), Christopher Borg (as Louis, The Baron, Dr. Carlton, Maestro Guardi & Priest), Howard McGillin (as Blackie Lambert), Kendal Sparks (as Mickey), and Jennifer Van Dyck (as Aunt Rosalie, The Baroness, Mrs. Carlton & Louise).
The Confession of Lily Dare is written by Charles Busch and directed by Carl Andress.
Synopsis: "The Confession of Lily Dare tells the story of one woman's tumultuous passage from convent girl to glittering cabaret chanteuse to infamous madam of a string of brothels—all while hiding her undying devotion to the child she was forced to abandon. This comic melodrama celebrates the gauzy "confession film" tearjerkers of early 1930s pre-code cinema, such as The Sin of Madelon Claudet, Frisco Jenny, and Madame X."
The newly announced creative team features original song & arrangements by Tom Judson, scenic design by B.T. Whitehill, costume design by Rachel Townsend (with Jessica Jahn designing Mr. Busch's costumes), lighting design by Kirk Bookman, sound design by Bart Fasbender, and wig design by Katherine Carr.
Mr. Busch has previously collaborated with Primary Stages on their productions of The Tribute Artist, Olive and the Bitter Herbs, and You Should Be So Lucky.
The Confession of Lily Dare Tickets are available now for performances from January 11 through March 5, 2020.
