Honeymoon in Vegas Opens on Broadway 15 Jan 2015

Jason Robert Brown's new musical Honeymoon in Vegas will open on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on 15 January 2015, following previews from 18 November 2014.

The long-rumoured production follows from a successful try-out at New Jersey's Papermill Playhouse which gained excellent reviews, with the New York Times calling it "a delightful new musical" and "a swinging hymn to laid-back outrageousness".

Based on the 1992 Castle Rock Entertainment Motion Picture of the same name, Honeymoon in Vegas features a book by Andrew Bergman and score by three-time Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown, who was represented on Broadway this past season with 'The Bridges of Madison County'. Initial casting for the production includes Tony Danza, Rob McClure and Brynn O'Malley. It will be directed by Gary Griffin with choreography by Denis Jones. Further casting and creative team are yet to be announced.

The musical tells the story of Jack Singer (Rob McClure), a regular guy with an extraordinary fear of marriage, who finally gets up the nerve to ask his girlfriend Betsy (Brynn O'Malley) to marry him. But when they head to Las Vegas to get hitched, smooth talking gambler Tommy Korman (Tony Danza), looking for a second chance at love, falls head over heels for Betsy. What happens next is anybody's bet!

Tony Danza is a Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee, best known for his screen performances in 'Taxi' and 'Who's the Boss?'. Hi Broadway credits include 'The Producers', 'Wrong Turn at Lungfish', 'The Iceman Cometh' opposite Kevin Spacey and Arthur Miller's 'A View from the Bridge'.

Rob McClure was last seen on Broadway in 'Chaplin: the Musical', in the lead role of Charlie Chaplin which saw him nominated for Tony, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle awards. Other Broadway credits include 'I'm Not Rappaport', opposite Judd Hirsch and Ben Vereen, and the roles of Princeton and Rod in 'Avenue Q'.

Brynn O'Malley most recently played Grace Farrell in the revival of 'Annie'. Her other Broadway credits include Nessarose in 'Wicked', Celeste #1/Elaine in the revival of 'Sunday in the Park with George', Amber Von Tussle in 'Hairspray', and Belle understudy in 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Tickets for Honeymoon in Vegas go on general sale on 7 July 2014.
