H.M.S Pinafore at the Sandford Meisner Theater


Vortex Theater Company will open its 24th season, a season devoted to musicals, with a radical new version of Gilbert & Sullivan's H.M.S Pinafore, opening at the Sandford Meisner Theater on 5 Mar 2007, following previews from 3 Mar and running through to 31 Mar 2007.

The production will reinvent this classic light opera using a cast of only seven actors and integrating portions of text and ideas from W.S. Gilbert's illustrated novel The Story of H.M.S. Pinafore.

H.M.S Pinafore takes a jocular look at class relations is presented through the story of a humble sailor, Ralph, who has found that the First Lord of the Admiralty is his rival for the captain's daughter's hand in marriage.

Directed by Dave Dalton and choreographed by Carrie Cimma, H.M.S Pinafore features Billy Ernst, Sarah Hartley, Nich Kauffman, David Macaluso, Max Miller, Paul Sigrist and Jendi Tarde.

Set and lighting design by Miranda Hardy, with costumes by Jessica Wegener.
