History of the Word at the Apollo Theatre

TheaterFirst, KDF and The Apollo Theatre present History of the Word, by Ben Snyder, at the Apollo Theatre on 8 Apr 2008.

History of the Word follows six high school students over a single day at Future High where they navigate a world filled with hope, fear and the constant need to be accepted. The characters struggle to find acceptance and empowerment through their study of language and history. It celebrates diversity with a cast from all different ethnic backgrounds and features current social and political topics that affect our society and communities.

Directed by Monica Williams and choreographed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, History of the Word features Eymard Meneses Cabling, B. Jones, Sasha Sloan, Spadaque Volcimus, Ryan Tramont and Isabel Hilario.

History of the Word was conceived as a way to fuse spoken word poetry and hip-hop music appealing to a younger audience.
