Glenne Headly steps in for Rita Wilson in Fish in the Dark

Producers of the Broadway comedy Fish in the Dark, written by and starring Larry David, have confirmed that Glenne Headly has temporarily replaced Rita Wilson as 'Brenda' in the production at the Cort Theatre.

A spokesperson for the production said that Wilson was on brief medical leave and expected to return to the comedy on 5 May 2015.

This follows the new that fellow 'Seinfeld' colleague and Tony Award winner Jason Alexander will assume Mr. David's role of Norman Drexel on 9 June 2015, as the show extends its limited engagement by six weeks through to 19 July 2015 at the Cort Theatre.

Fish in the Dark began previews on 2 February 2015, and officially opened on 5 March 2015 to mixed reviews.

Glenne Headly joins the current cast of the comedy, which includes Larry David, Rita Wilson, Jayne Houdyshell, Rosie Perez, Ben Shenkman, Lewis J. Stadlen, Jerry Adler, Marylouise Burke, Jake Cannavale, Jenn Lyon, Jonny Orsini, and Molly Ranson.

Headly's TV credits include 'Lonesome Dove' and 'Bastard Out of Carolina'. Her film credits include 'Don Jon', 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' and 'Dick Tracy'. She last starred on Broadway in the 1985 revival of Shaw's 'Arms and the Man'.

Fish in the Dark is directed by Anna D. Shapiro and produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin. It features scenic design by Todd Rosenthal, costumes by Ann Roth, and lighting by Brian MacDevitt.
