Full casting announced for new musical Between the Lines at the Tony Kiser Theater
The new musical based on Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer's book will begin performances on April 21, 2020.
Full casting for the New York premiere of Between the Lines at the Tony Kiser Theater has been announced. The musical will begin previews on April 21, 2020, ahead of an official opening on May 7, 2020.
Between the Lines is based on the 2012 novel by New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult and her daughter, Samantha van Leer.
Arielle Jacobs will play the role of Delilah, currently starring as Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin. She is joined by Jason Gotay as Prince Oliver/Edgar, who recently appeared as Che in New York City Center's revival of Evita, and Morgan Siobhan Green as Jules/Ondine, whose Broadway credits include Be More Chill.
The cast is completed by Vicki Lewis (as Ms. Winx/Jessamyn/Jacobs/Mrs. Brown/Kyrie), Will Burton (as Frump/Ryan), Jerusha Cavazos (as Janice/Marina), Pierre Marais (as (Martin/Troll/Dad/Delivery Person), John Rapson (as Dr. Ducharme/Rapskullio), Carrie St. Louis (as Allie/Princess Seraphima) and Julia Murney (as Grace/Queen Maureen).
Synopsis: "An outsider in a new town and a new school, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book, where she feels heard and understood. But as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur in both extraordinary and astonishing ways, Delilah has to confront whether she alone has the power to rewrite her own story. Between the Lines is an empowering and enchanting new musical for anyone who has ever sought to find their place in the world."
Between the Lines features a book by Timothy Allen McDonald, with music & lyrics by Elyssa Samsel & Kate Anderson, and the Off-Broadway production will be directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun.
The creative team also features choreography by Lortel & Drama Desk Award nominee Lorin Latarro, with additional creative team information to be announced in the coming months.
The world premiere of the new musical was staged at Kansas City Rep in the fall of 2017 and in January 2018, it was presented as a concert version at the 92Y in Manhattan.
Although Between the Lines' Off-Broadway premiere is being staged at the Tony Kiser Theater, it is not a Second Stage Theater production. Between The Lines is produced by Daryl Roth.
