Found, at the Actors Playhouse

PLUS Entertainment presents Found a night with the Story Pirates, at the Actors Playhouse from 4 - 6 Jun 2009.

Found: Who stole A.Js binder? What ever happened to that chick from Cosmetics Plus? And why is Tommy still banned from the batting cages? Sit back and watch as the Story Pirates playfully fill in the blanks.

Improvisation theatre where stories are weaved entirely from lost and discarded notes, diaries, love letters, to-do lists, photographs -- anything that gives you a glimpse into someone else's life.

Audience members are encouraged to participate by bringing their own 'finds' to the performance, so that their inds can be incorporated into the evening creating a unique story for each performance.

Found is inspired by Davy Rothbart's cult classic publication FOUND Magazine

FOUND Magazine, created in 2001 by Davy Rothbart, features an edited array of things formerly misplaced, dropped, or otherwise left behind by others. Break-up letters, birthday cards, kids' homework, shopping lists, Polaroids, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, doodles -- anything goes. The periodical has produced eight magazines and two National best-selling books.

FOUND is an absolute marvel. Watching a rehearsal, I felt like Alice going down the rabbit hole into a FOUND Wonderland. Hallucinogenic, unbelievably hilarious, and at times oddly affecting, it's one of the most amazing theater experiences of my life. by Davy Rothbart, creator of FOUND Magazine.

The Story Pirates are a troupe of improv actors and teaching artists who adapt and perform stories written by kids as a way of celebrating the words and ideas of young people. A not-for-profit organization, the Story Pirates were founded to promote creative collaboration between adults and children. Their education programs and theater productions can be found in over 80 schools in New York and around the country. For their older audience, the Story Pirates present their acclaimed AfterDark Show.

PLUS Entertainment (Victoria Lang & Pier Paulo Piccoli), an award winning independent development and production company has produced: 'SHOUT! The Mod Musical' (Off-Broadway, West End, U.S. Tour, U.K. Tour), 'Bat Boy' (West End), 'Johnny Guitar' (Outer Critics Circle Award-Best Off-Broadway Musical), 'Listen to My Heart: The Songs of David Friedman' (Off-Broadway), 'Girl's Night: The Musical' (L.A.) and 'Matt and Ben' (Off-Broadway & L.A.).
