Fiasco Theater's Merrily We Roll Along extends at Roundabout Theatre Company
Merrily We Roll Along will now play its final performance off-Broadway on April 14, 2019.
Roundabout Theatre Company has announced a 1-week extension for its current Fiasco Theater production of Merrily We Roll Along, which began previews at the Laura Pels Theatre on January 12, 2019, officially opening on February 19, and will now play its final performance on April 14, 2019 (instead of April 7).
Based on and with additional material from the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, Merrily We Roll Along features music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth.
Synopsis: "With Fiasco's one-of-a-kind imagination, this audacious musical about a trio of friends in showbiz who fall apart and come together over two decades emerges as newly personal and passionate. The ensemble brings to life a reimagination of Furth and Sondheim's creation in an emotionally rich new production that confronts the pains and pleasures of fame, fortune, and old friends."
The cast of Merrily We Roll Along includes Jessie Austrian (as Mary), Brittany Bradford (as Beth/Meg/K.T.), Paul L. Coffey (as Joe/Glen Wilson/ Mr. Spencer), Manu Narayan (as Charley), Ben Steinfeld (as Frank), and Emily Young (as Gussie/Mrs. Spencer).
Following on from the success of the Roundabout/Fiasco collaboration with the 2015 production of Into the Woods, Merrily We Roll Along is once again directed by Fiasco Co-Artistic Director Noah Brody.
The creative team for the production features music direction & orchestrations by Alexander Gemignani, choreography by Lorin Latarro, scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind, and sound design by Peter Hylenski.
