End of the Rainbow now booking to 11 Nov 2012

The Broadway premiere of of Peter Quilter's play with music, End of The Rainbow, starring Tracie Bennett in her Olivier and Tony nominated performance as Judy Garland, has extended its run through to 11 Nov 2012.

End of The Rainbow opened at the Belasco Theatre on 2 Apr 2012, following previews from 19 Mar 2012. The musical opened to mixed reviews: Bennett's ... is sensational (NY Times); Bennett's tour de force (NY Post); It's theatrical magic (Back Stage); It's trash (Newsroom Jersey); Macabre sideshow (Hollywood Reporter).

Along with Bennett the cast also features Michael Cumpsty (Anthony - Tony nominated), Tom Pelphrey (Mickey) and Jay Russell (BBC Interviewer/ASM/Reporter). The show is directed by Terry Johnson.

End of The Rainbow is set in December 1968 and Judy Garland is about to make her comeback... again. In a London hotel room preparing for a series of concerts, with both her new young fiancé and her adoring accompanist, Garland struggles to get "beyond the rainbow" with her signature cocktail of talent, tenacity, and razor-sharp wit.

Despite a series of failed marriages and a ruined Hollywood career, she remains a tough and remarkable woman, armed with a legendary razor-sharp wit and a real understanding of the demons that possess her. Yet, within six months, she will be dead at the age of just 47, her body wrecked by the legendary amounts of drink & drugs she had been consuming since a teenager.

Press notes desrcibe the show as a "Savagely funny drama [that] offers unique insight into the inner conflict that inspired and consumed one of the most beloved figures in American popular culture."

End of The Rainbow features some of Garland's most memorable songs, including 'The Man That Got Away,' 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' 'The Trolley Song' and 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow,' each performed with the show-stopping gusto for which she will always be remembered.

End of The Rainbow is produced on Broadway by Lee Dean, Laurence Myers, Jenny Topper and Joey Parnes.
