The acclaimed Spanish magician will perform a strictly limited two-week engagement on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in August.
UPDATE: This article has been updated to include rush and lottery information for El Mago Pop.
Abracadabra! Magician Antonio Díaz, known as El Mago Pop, will bring his self-titled illusion show to Broadway for two weeks only. Performances begin August 17 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and run through August 27.
Earlier today, Díaz announced his show by performing an illusion live on the Today Show, marking his national TV debut. El Mago Pop marks his Broadway debut and makes him the youngest illusionist to perform a Broadway show.
"If 25 years ago, you told that child that practiced card tricks in a little room in Barcelona that he would have his own show on Broadway one day, he would have never believed it,” Díaz said in a statement. “But sometimes, the impossible happens. Being one of the few illusionists in history to have his own show on Broadway is a privilege. Being the first one from Europe is amazing."
El Mago Pop features close-up magic and other unusual illusions, all of which play with rhythm, emotion, and fantasy to remind audiences of the power of dreaming.
Díaz, who hails from Spain, is the highest-grossing European illusionist in the world. He has two Netflix specials, “Magic for Humans” and “La Gran Ilusion,” which have been broadcast worldwide.
El Mago Pop will have a digital lottery for $47 tickets. Users can enter between midnight and 3 p.m. the day before their desired performance, and winners will be able to purchase up to two tickets.
There will also be an in-person rush for $42 tickets, available at the Barrymore Theatre box office each day for that day's performance. Rush tickets are limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis beginning when the box office opens at 10 a.m.
