Drama League Awards 2016 - And the winners are...

This morning, the atmosphere was buzzing at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, as a host of Broadway stars assembled for the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards. Zachary Levi and Megan Hilty were on hand to host this year's ceremony, as well as being nominated for the Drama League's coveted 'Distinguished Performance' Award for their roles in She Loves Me and Noises Off, respectively.

The recipients of this year's special recognition awards were Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winner Sheldon Harnick, who received the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award, Olivier Award winner Ivo van Hove, who was honored with the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing, and lastly, Deaf West Theatre, who were awarded the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award.

It proved to be a solid win again for smash hit musical Hamilton, picking up 'Outstanding Production of a Musical' and Lin-Manuel Miranda winning the aforementioned 'Distinguished Performance Award.' Stephen Karam's The Humans received the award for 'Outstanding production of a Play,' whilst A View from the Bridge was honored as the 'Outstanding Revival of a Play' and The Color Purple won 'Outstanding Revival of a Musical.'
