Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: Rachel York to join cast
Rachel York will join the cast of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels from the 7 Feb - 18 Jun 2006. Ms York will assume the role of 'Christine Colgate' during Sherie Rene Scott's leave of absence.
Rachel York last appeared on Broadway in Sly Fox, opening the show as working girl Miss Fancy and then switching roles to play the virginal Mrs. Truckle. York's other Broadway credits include Les Miserables, City of Angels, Victor/Victoria (for which she won a Drama Desk Award) and The Scarlet Pimpernel. She starred in the national tour and West End mounting of the Kiss Me, Kate revival.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels opened on the 3 Mar 2005, following previews from 31 Jan, and is booking to the 21 May 2006 at the Imperial Theatre.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has book by Jeffrey Lane, with music & lyrics by David Yazbek, and stars John Lithgow (leaves the show 15 Jan 2006), Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott, Joanna Gleason, Gregory Jbara and Sara Gettelfinger.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is set in the glamorous French Riviera where two con men meet and decide that the town isn�t big enough for both of them. They agree to a contest: the first one to swindle $50,000 from a young female heiress wins and the other man must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues bringing out the best and the worst in both men.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was nominated for 11 Tony's. It was also nominated for 6 Outer Critics Circle awards - of which it won one: Norbert Leo Butz won Outstanding Actor in a Musical. It was also nominated for 10 Drama Desk Awards - of which it won one: again by Norbert Leo Butz for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.
