Dinner With The Boys to close off-Broadway

Dan Lauria's self-penned 'killer' comedy Dinner With The Boys has announced it will end its run early, playing its final performance at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on 28 June 2015.

The production, which is directed by Frank Megna, began previews on 21 April 2015, before an official opening on 4 May 2015, and was originally booking through to 5 July 2015.

The comedy received mixed to positive reviews, and was described by the New York Times as a "modest" show.

Synopsis: "Dinner With The Boys is a comedy about two wise guys from the old neighborhood who find themselves at odds with the family and must serve up perfectly seasoned results with their puttanesca in order to escape danger themselves. As they await their own fate in 'the wilds of New Jersey,' this Italian odd couple reflects on their days of glory while preparing dinner for special guests, all the while wondering, 'will this meal be their last supper?'"

The cast includes Dan Lauria, Ray Abruzzo and Richard Zavaglia.

Dinner With The Boys features scenic design by Jessica Parks, costumes by Patricia E. Doherty, lighting by Jill Nagle, and sound design by Matt Kraus. It is produced off-Broadway by Pat Addiss and Dinner Boys LLC.

Dinner With The Boys premiered at The New Jersey Rep in Long Branch.
