Dates announced for two Signature Theatre productions
Dates are now available for two Signature Theatre productions: A Particle of Dread by Sam Shepard will open at Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre on 23 Nov 2014, following previews from 11 Nov, and Big Love by Charles Mee will open at Signature Center's Irene Diamond Stage on 23 Feb 2015, following previews from 3 Feb.
Nancy Meckler directs A Particle of Dread, which is described as a 'dark, fragmented, modern-day take on Oedipus Rex'. The play premiered in Derry, Ireland and features Academy Award-nominee Stephen Rea in the lead role. The producers are Signature Theatre and Field Day Theatre Company.
Big Love will be directed by Tina Landau. Synopsis: 'Fifty brides flee their fifty grooms and seek refuge in an Italian villa in this modern re-making of one of the world's oldest plays, The Danaids by Aeschylus. Mayhem ensues, complete with grooms in flight suits, women throwing themselves to the ground, occasional pop songs and romantic dances - even a bride falling in love. Big Love explores the hunger for independence, the burden of tradition, and the shape and size of love.'
