‘Come From Away’ to reopen at Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in September
Performances will resume on Broadway, with a filmed production currently in the works too.
Welcome (back) to the rock! After Governor Cuomo's announcement that theatres can reopen at full capacity, Come From Away will resume performances on Broadway. Come From Away will return to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre from Sept. 21, 2021. Find out more about Come From Away tickets on Broadway here.
Inspired by the true stories of Gander residents and those onboard 38 planes diverted to Newfoundland, Come From Away tells of an international community who come together in a time of crisis. Irene Sankoff and David Hein penned the musical, after visiting Gander on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
Come From Away opened on Broadway in 2017, earning seven Tony nominations including best new musical.
Casting for Come From Away's Broadway return is to be announced. Prior to theatres closing, the cast included Petrina Bromley (as Bonnie & Others), De'Lon Grant (as Bob & Others), Rachel Tucker (as Beverley, Annette & Others), Joel Hatch (as Claude & Others), Chad Kimball (as Kevin T., Garth & Others), Kenita R. Miller (as Hannah & Others), Caesar Samayoa (as Kevin J., Ali & Others), Emily Walton (as Janice & Others), Jim Walton (as Nick, Doug & Others), Sharon Wheatley (as Diane & Others), Paul Whitty (as Oz & Others), and Astrid Van Wieren (as Beulah & Others).
A filmed version of Come From Away is also in the works. The filmed performance is being recorded at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, scheduled for a September release date.
