Close Up Space to close 29 Jan 2012 - 1 week early

Manhattan Theatre Club world premiere of Molly Smith Metzler's Close Up Space, directed by Leigh Silverman, will close on 29 Jan 2012, one week earlier then originally scheduled.

Close Up Space, opened at NY City Center Stage I on 19 Dec 2011, following previews from 1 Dec 2011, and was originally scheduled to close on 5 Feb 2012.

The comedy opened to poor reviews: Little to recommend it (NY Times); Misguided, tiresome wreck (NYP); A huge disappointment (Back Stage); A woefully weak play (Record); A dud (Newsroom Jersey).

The cast features David Hyde Pierce (Paul Barrow), Michael Chernus (Steve), Rosie Perez (Vanessa Finn Adams), Jessica DiGiovanni (Bailey) and Colby Minifie (Harper).

In Close Up Space Paul Barrow is an obsessive book editor on a major deadline. With an assistant who's been camping in the office, a famous author threatening to bail on him and an intern who is no help at all, Paul's just about had it! But when his fiery daughter shows up and lambasts him in Russian, Paul faces a glaring personal error that can't be corrected with red ink.

The design team includes Todd Rosenthal (set), Emily Rebholz (costume), Matthew Frey (lighting) and Jill BC Du Boff (sound).
