'Character Forum: A Thesis' at the Actors Movement Studio and the manhattantheatresource

Katie Northlich

Character Forum: A Thesis, a one-woman comedy show, written and performed by Katie Northlich, at the Actors Movement Studio from the 7 - 9 Sep 2005 and at the manhattantheatresource on the 2 Oct 2005

The comedy features Katie as Columbia student Rayna Bernham, who must present her thesis project to the graduate committee. For her presentation, she brings in an eclectic panel of folks from all walks of life, from Kathy Kapooshioke an entrepreneur from Minnesota to a butcher named Butch, among others.

Raynas first crack as a talk show host leads to comical results. But as Rayna attempts to get this motley crew to become more self-introspective, it becomes painfully clear that she is the one really in need of some self-awareness.

The comedy is directed by Michael D. Jackson

After touring Europe and California with a Commedia Delle Arte troupe, The California Commedia Troupe, for two consecutive summers, Katie Northlich made the leap to New York. New York comedy credits include original cabaret acts at Dillons, Dont Tell Mamas, and Dannys Skylight Room; stand-up at Stand Up NY, New York Comedy Club, Carolines on Broadway, and Sams on 45th and improv/sketch training at The PIT, UCB, Armando Diaz Productions and Second City NY.

Character Forum: A Thesis has been previously workshopped at The People's Improv Theatre and Juvie Hall.
