Butley: Jessica Stone and Darren Pettie complete the cast


Nathan Lane will be joined by Jessica Stone and Darren Pettie as well as the previously announced Julian Ovenden, Dana Ivey, Pamela Gray and James McMenamin in Simon Gray�s dark comedy Butley this fall.

Butley will open on Broadway on 25 Oct 2006. Tickets go on sale to the general public on 2 Sep 2006

Directed by Nicholas Martin, the 14-week limited run will begin previews at the Booth Theatre on 5 Oct 2006. The production will end its run on 14 Jan 2007.

Nathan Lane starred in the production of Butley at The Huntington (Boston) in 2003, also directed by Nicholas Martin. Lane is the winner of two Tony Awards, for his performances in The Producers and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He also starred on Broadway in The Odd Couple, Guys and Dolls, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Frogs, and Laughter on the 23rd Floor.

Jessica Stone recently played Cecily Pigeon in the Broadway revival of The Odd Couple with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Other Broadway credits include Match, The Smell of the Kill, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Design for Living, and Grease.

Darren Pettie�s New York credits include Splatter Pattern at Playwrights Horizon, Hobson�s Choice at the Atlantic Theater, and Measure for Measure at the Public Theater.

Julian Ovenden has appeared in the West End productions of Grand Hotel, A Woman of No Importance, and Merrily We Roll Along. TV credits include �Charmed� and �Related� on the WB.

Dana Ivey is a four time Tony-nominee for the Broadway productions of Heartbreak House, Sunday in the Park with George, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, and The Rivals. Other Broadway credits include Major Barbara, Henry IV, and The Marriage of Figaro.

Pamela J. Gray will reprise her performance from Butley at the Huntington. She�s previously appeared on Broadway in Night Must Fall and her film credits include The Devil�s Advocate, Commandments and The Stranger.

James McMenamin has recently been seen in BFE at Playwrights Horizons. Other New York credits include The Green Stockings at Urban Stages and Joan at the Endurance Theatre.

Butley is a dark comedy about a literary professor who loses his wife and lover in the same day. It was mounted on Broadway in 1972 and also made into a film, both starring Alan Bates.

The comedy will have design by Alexander Dodge, costumes by Ann Roth , lighting by David Weiner and sound by John Gromada.

Nicholas Martin directed the Broadway production of Hedda Gabler starring Kate Burton. His off-Broadway credits include Fully Committed, Time of the Cuckoo and Bosoms and Neglect. He is the artistic director of Boston�s Huntington Theatre Company.

Simon Gray�s plays include Otherwise Engaged, The Common Pursuit, Quartermaine�s Terms, The Holy Terror and Wise Child.
