Wed 25 May 2005 'Brooklyn, The Musical' to close on the 26 Jun 2005 Brooklyn, The Musical is is to close following Sunday's Matinee performance on the 26 Jun 2005 at the Plymouth Theatre. When it closes the show will have played 28 previews and 283 regular performances. Brooklyn, The Musical, opened on the 21 Oct 2004, following previews from 23 Sep 2004 and had been booking up to the 28 Aug 2005. The producers have announced a national tour beginning in 2006. The cast, dates and cities to be announced shortly. Brooklyn, The Musical has book, music & lyrics by Mark Schoenfeld & Barri McPherson. It is directed by Jeff Calhoun, and stars Kevin Anderson (Taylor Collins), Eden Espinosa (Brooklyn), Cleavant Derricks (Street Singer), Ramona Keller (Paradice), Karen Olivo (Faith). A saga about a beautiful young Parisian songstress, whose fame and fortune could not fill the emptiness in her soul. Believing in her heart that the father she never knew might somehow, somewhere still be alive, she embarks on a search which leads to the city that bears her name. It is there she learns about the �American Way� and is confronted with greed, envy, and loss ... and it is there in that city, that she and we discover our real identities and the true meaning of family, fame, fate and faith. Brooklyn, The Musical opened to poor to average reviews. BEN BRANTLEY of the NEW YORK TIMES says �Cultural recycling of mostly discarded showbiz forms from several decades ago.� PETER SANTILLI of Associated Press says "Should charm audiences."
